For low-noise (<55 dBA at 1m) or precision-positioning (<5 arc-min backlash) applications, AGMA Q12 (DIN 6) ground gears are quoted as an option — adds the tooling cost for the grinding pass but extends mesh life and drops noise floor by 5–8 dBA. "Sealed for life" is a marketing line on most gear motor datasheets. The grade, viscosity, additive package and seal type that make it actually sealed for life are below — published specs, not aspirations.

Standard Lubricant — Planetary & Helical

Lithium-complex grease NLGI grade 2, base oil viscosity ~220 cSt at 40°C, EP additive package for high-load gear-mesh duty. Operating temperature range −20°C to +120°C continuous, +140°C peak. Equivalent commercial grades: Mobil SHC 460, Klüber Polylub GLY 801, SKF LGEP 2. Quantity-metered fill at the assembly station — too much grease drives churning loss and heat, too little drives wear.

Standard Lubricant — Worm

Gear oil ISO VG 220 with extreme-pressure (EP) additive, for the sliding-contact regime between worm and worm wheel. Heavier viscosity than grease helps reduce wear on the bronze worm wheel under high-ratio loading. Operating temperature −20°C to +100°C continuous; oil bath sealed at the housing parting line. Synthetic gear oil (PAO base) on request for cold-start or high-temperature duty.

Food-Grade NSF H1 (On Request)

Food-grade lubricant (NSF H1 registered) available on request for food-processing, beverage, dairy and pharmaceutical applications. Base lubricant is white-mineral-oil or PAO with food-safe additive package. Confirm at quote stage so we ship the right grease + oil combination on the assembly traveler. Specific NSF H1 brand confirmed against your audit list (procurement teams in EU and North America usually specify Klüber, Lubriplate or Petro-Canada).

Standard Sealing — IP54

Double-lip oil seal on the output shaft (NBR rubber lip + spring + dust-lip), housing O-ring at the parting line, sealed bearings on the output shaft. IP54 standard from the factory — protected against limited dust ingress and water spray from any direction. Standard motor-side sealing matches IP54. Adequate for indoor industrial duty, AGV warehouse, conveyor, packaging.

Upgrade — IP65 / IP67

IP65 with confirmed gasket upgrade (FKM seal lip for chemical resistance, double O-ring at the parting line, IP65-rated cable gland on the motor side) — for outdoor industrial duty, washdown, dust-heavy environment.
